Importing YouTube Playlists & Live Quick-Watch#

Mudawim allows you to import any public or unlisted YouTube curriculum:

Universal Link Support: Paste standard playlist URLs (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=...), single video links, completed YouTube live streams (youtube.com/live/...), YouTube Shorts (youtube.com/shorts/...), or mobile links (m.youtube.com).
Multiple Links (Single vs. Separate Courses): When pasting multiple links, Mudawim prompts you with a toggle to choose whether each link creates its own separate course, or all videos from all pasted links are merged into 1 unified curriculum.
Custom Course Name: Specify your own custom title directly during import (e.g., *"Fullstack React & Node.js Masterclass"*), or leave it empty to automatically inherit the YouTube creator's playlist title.
Live Quick-Watch Stage: During the import process, a focused live video preview player mounts immediately in the dialog so you can start watching lesson #1 right away while the remaining curriculum syncs in the background.

Live Playlists, Auto-Sync & Manual Refresh#

Many technical playlists and tutorial series receive newly uploaded lessons over time. Mudawim provides native background synchronization:

Live Playlist Toggle: When importing a course, enable the Live Playlist (Auto-Sync) toggle (off by default).
Automatic Sync on Visit: Whenever you open a live course, Mudawim checks for new videos in the background (debounced to avoid rate limits) and seamlessly appends new lessons to your roster without disrupting your playback or notes.
Manual Refresh:

- Single Course Refresh: On the course details page, open Options > Refresh Playlist to check YouTube immediately.

- Workspace Bulk Refresh: On the Course List page, open Options > Refresh Live Playlists to scan and update all live courses across your active workspace simultaneously.

Card Indicators: Course cards display an emerald LIVE badge, real-time background progress percentages, and status messages during active sync.
Range Safety: If you apply a custom video range slice to a playlist, live auto-sync is automatically disabled to protect your sliced curriculum boundaries.

JSON Drag-and-Drop & Raw Paste Import#

If you have pre-packaged Mudawim course files or shared backups:

Open the Import JSON tab in the course modal.
Interactive Dropzone: Drag and drop any .json export file directly into the dashed upload area or click to browse.
Raw JSON Paste: Switch to the Paste Raw JSON tab to paste raw JSON text directly from your clipboard.
Course Selector: Preview file size, total courses, and lessons found. Use checkboxes to select specific courses or click Select All before committing.

Curriculum Slices & Modularization#

Have you ever encountered a monolithic 100-video YouTube playlist where only videos 20 through 45 are relevant to your current learning goal?

Mudawim features Playlist Slicing:

Specify a start video index and an end video index (e.g., Videos #1 to #25 as *"Beginner Module"*, and #26 to #60 as *"Advanced Module"*).
Name each slice independently to keep your curriculum digestible and modular.

Course Card Actions & Resume Tracking#

Each course card in your workspace provides contextual actions based on your progress:

Start Course (0%): One-click trigger that launches Lesson #1 for unstarted courses.
Resume Course: Displays the last studied lesson number (e.g., *"Resume Lesson #4"*) along with the exact relative time since you last watched (e.g., *"Watched 2 hours ago"*).
Progress Bar & Time Remaining: Real-time percentage and remaining hours/minutes left in the course.
Duration-Weighted Accuracy: Course completion percentages are accurately calculated from the watch duration of completed lessons rather than simple video counts, ensuring that long lectures and shorter summary lessons are weighted proportionally.

Course Management Options & Decluttered Dropdowns#

To maintain a clean, distraction-free interface across mobile and desktop screens, secondary actions are grouped inside contextual Options dropdowns:

Course List Header: Keeps the primary + Add Course button prominent, while collapsing Refresh Live Playlists, Edit & Reorder Courses, and Export Courses inside an Options menu.
Course Detail Header: Keeps the primary Resume Study / Start Course button prominent, while grouping Add Videos, Refresh Playlist, Share Course, Duplicate Course, Export (.json), and Delete Course inside an Options menu.

Course List Edit Mode & Reordering#

Organize your workspace curriculum to match your exact study priorities:

Edit Mode Toggle: Click Options > Edit & Reorder Courses at the top of your course list.
Drag-and-Drop & Arrow Reordering: Move courses up or down in sequence; custom order is automatically persisted to local database storage.
Bulk Multi-Select Deletion: Select multiple courses simultaneously to clean up completed or unneeded playlists in one operation.

Automatic & Manual Completion Tracking#

Auto-Completion: When a video reaches 90% completion, Mudawim automatically marks it as completed and registers study duration into your daily log.
Manual Toggle: Click the checkbox on any video row to manually mark it as completed or uncompleted.
